Social Arts Festival in Los Angeles

with artists from Hamburg, Berlin, Los Angeles and Kampala.

WATERWEEK in Los Angeles got all of us into a creative flow of art, music, collaboration. During this social arts festival, that we presented with our partners Viva con Agua and Hamburg Music, many different artists from Hamburg, Berlin, Los Angeles and beyond got a global stage to showcase their work, to create, to explore new common paths and to stand up for the human right to clean drinking water and sanitation. It was a once-in-a-lifetime-experience for all of us. Thanks to everyone who came around to celebrate with us and supported water projects of Viva con Agua. It was amazing!

A diversified mix of more than 100 artists came together, embedded in an urban space full of changes and peculiarities, which they shaped during WATERWEEK and beyond. They rocked the stages of L.A., beautified the city even more with great street art, fine arts and photography, and showed, what artistic collaboration can achieve.

After a varied Pre-Program with the storyboards of the Oscar-nominated movie Watu Wote by KATJA BENRATH, a Pre-Oscar-Party, an art-projection, exhibitions at different venues and street art artists like BJÖRN HOLZWEG, who started painting his murals, we flew into WATERWEEK with a very special Jazznight with Mocky and friends aka The Überjazz Allstars at THE DEL MONTE SPEAKEASY in Venice and got to know a group of artists with an overwhelming dynamic.

On the 22nd of March we celebrated World Water Day with Burger Records: Burger Invasion at  HI-HAT at Highland Park. On stage: ALLAH LAS and Peach Kelli Pop, L.A., FENSTER, Berlin and SWEARING AT MOTORISTS, Hamburg. It was a night full of music and rock at its best in a full house.

The day after we where really excited about the MashUp Night at Pixomondo to come. Artworks from Hamburg, Berlin and beyond from artists such as John Brömstrup, Stefan Groenveld, Pascal Bünning and Christian Rinke where exhibited, Kymat got everyone into the Waterflow, and Tim Bengel revealed a new artwork for Viva con Agua. And of course we had powerful music from Germany, Los Angeles, the UK…: TJ & The Suitcase, Lilou, Joel Shearer, Milou Milone, Joe Sumner, The Great Escape and more musicians got everyone into the right mood. Not to forget about the second elphi, that was built by Clement (Its the vibe) in only a few hours and transformed into a DJ hub. It was a memorable night full of Übermut-moments.

It was an exhuberant week full of music, art, sports, old and new friends and artistic collaboration at its best.

Special thanks to Viva con Agua California and Hamburg Music for the great program, to all these unique artists, who made this week the greatest, to all supporters of WATERWEEK and to the locations, that had us. And now? We’re looking forward to many more #ubermut - moments during the next months.
