Sophie Camille Brunner is a freelance dancer and choreographer based in Berlin and Basel. In 2016, she finished her bachelor’s degree in dance, context and choreography at the Inter University Centre for Dance Berlin (UdK/Hfs). For a few years now, she has been working with TanzZeit Berlin and her own Duo AdHoc (Christina Wüstenhagen), initiating and leading various dance and cultural projects in cooperation with schools, theatres and museums. Under the artistic direction of Jo Parkes (Mobile Dance), Sophie works as a dancer and choreographic assistant in community dance projects. In her own choreographic and performative work, she’s trying to break apart the aesthetic barriers between dance and film. Here, she’s using the practice of documentation and archiving of personals stories in the body and in the moving picture as an opportunity for artistic expression. Since the beginning of 2017, Sophie is part of the 6th Dance Education Biennial’s team of artistic directors.
